Candace Nina Reyes
Los Angeles, California. Candace Nina Reyes, a product of Filipino immigrants, is a mixed-media artist (photographer, dancer, and ceramicist) interested in exploring our most vulnerable, unfiltered, and rawest selves in our search for self-liberation. Reyes captures imperfect moments that encourage self-reflection, connection to our ancestors and spirit guides, and reflection on what it means to honor past, present, and future.
Reyes’ work is rooted in Filipino indigenous ideology, kapwa, believing that all energies and forces are interconnected. Her work challenges individualism, patriarchal, and Western ideologies – creating pathways for self-discovery outside of capitalism. In her work, we see our most honest selves.
